Have Health Insurance From the Marketplace? Use Form 1095-A When Filing Your Taxes

If anyone in your household had a Marketplace Health Insurance plan in 2024, you must obtain Form 1095-A before you file your tax returns. The form may be available in your Marketplace account from mid-January to February 1, 2025.

Please note that this form is generated from the Marketplace and not the IRS. Keep this form with other important tax information, such as W-2 forms. You will need these documents to file your taxes.

The information on Form 1095-A provides crucial information about Marketplace plans any member of your household had, such as premiums paid, premium tax credits used, and the Second Lowest Cost Silver Plan (SLCSP).

Understanding the SLCSP is key to calculating your final premium tax credit. The SLCSP premium is usually listed on Form 1095-A. Once you have an accurate 1095-A and SLCSP, you may complete Form 8962, the Premium Tax Credit Form.
